The RTM Lite Process
What is RTM Lite?
Resin Transfer Moulding is a two part mould. Fibreglass is placed in one part of the gel coated mould and then the two parts of the mould are fitted together. A vacuum is created in the mould cavity and then a measured amount of resin is drawn /injected into the mould cavity. Once the resin is cured the two parts of the mould can taken apart and the part removed.
The Advantages of RTM Lite
- Less Wastage
- Environmental friendly
- Faster cure times
- Higher Production rates
- Consistent part thickness
- Smooth surface on inside of part
- Can be Gel Coated both sides
- Accurate costings on materials used
- Clean workshop environment
- Add components that are require into mould making it a single process
Start up Costs
All you need is one mould, a few accessories, a vacuum pump and away you go. This way costs are kept to a minimum to start with. Once you have mastered the process, you can build from there with resin injection machines and more vacuum pumps.
